From the beaches of Lake Michigan to winter sports, Van Buren County, Michigan has something for everyone including the following:
  • Lake Michigan, the greatest of the five Great Lakes. A true sportsman’s paradise is home to boating, fishing, sailing and incredible beaches. Lake Michigan is the only Great Lake wholly in the US. It is 22,300 square miles of fresh water and it is the fifth largest fresh water lake in the world.
     
  • Fresh local food is in abundance. Our delightful farmers markets are brimming with freshness and timeless hospitality. From bushels of fresh picked apples to ciders, jams, fresh vegetables, it's a tradition of the area. And don't forget our U-pick blueberries, raspberries and sweet corn/Indian corn and pumpkin fields. Van Buren County is nicknamed “Michigan’s Fruit Basket” due to its superior fruit production.

  • Winter sports include skiing and snowmobiling. Winter offers a variety of winter sports for you to enjoy. You can downhill ski or snowboard at Timber Ridge Ski Resort, located in north-eastern portion of the county. Cross-country skiers can utilize various locations around the county, such as the Van Buren State Park in Covert, the Kal-Haven Trail, or the Van Buren Trail.  If driving a Snowmobile along snow covered trails is your passion, you can go to the Van Buren State Park or take a look at the snowmobile trails map of South Western Michigan.
